Myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is a vision condition that makes distant objects appear blurry while close-up objects remain clear. Around 30% of Americans are affected by myopia, affecting both children and adults.
At Rock optiX, our eye doctor in Millis can help your children control the progression of myopia. We strive to help you achieve optimal vision at all distances.

Myopia can develop gradually or rapidly and usually worsens from childhood through adolescence. We can diagnose myopia during your comprehensive eye exam and help you solve your unique visual needs.
Myopia occurs when the eyeball is too long, or the cornea is curved too steeply. As a result, the light that should focus on the retina instead focuses in front of the retina and makes distant objects appear blurry.
Common signs and symptoms of myopia may include:
Regular eye exams can help our team stay up-to-date on your child’s developing myopia issues and symptoms.
At Rock optiX, we strive to help your child manage myopia through comprehensive eye exams and providing myopia control solutions to keep your vision clear.
We offer MiSight 1 Day Contact Lenses, NaturalVue Multifocal Contact Lenses, and Atropine Drops.
MiSight 1 day contact lenses are comfortable, soft contact lenses that are clinically proven to slow the progression of myopia in children between 8 to 12 years old at the initiation of treatment.
MiSight lenses are designed to slow the elongation of the eye caused by myopia and reduce the risk of myopia-affected vision later in life. These soft contacts are easy-to-use for age-appropriate children and come in a daily disposable variety for convenience.
The NaturalVue multifocal contact lens is a daily disposable lens designed for presbyopia and myopia control.
These lenses create an extended depth of focus to enable almost 2x the range of clear vision. NaturalVue lenses also slow the progression of eye growth.
Low-dose atropine eye drops have been effective in slowing myopia progression by relaxing the eye’s focusing mechanisms. The dosage prescribed is dependent on your child’s vision needs.
Once atropine treatment stops, myopia progression can ramp up again, so early diagnosis and treatment are essential. Atropine drops are usually placed in the eyes each night at bedtime.
Early detection and management are vital to myopia control at Rock optiX. Regular eye exams can help our team stay up-to-date on your prescription and monitor your visual needs.
