What Are Cataracts?
Before we explore the surgery process, it’s essential to know what cataracts are and how they develop.
Cataracts develop when the normally clear lens of the eye becomes clouded due to proteins in the eye forming clumps, preventing clear images from reaching the retina.
Common signs and symptoms of cataracts can include:
- Fading or yellowing of colors
- Sensitivity to light and glare
- Difficulty seeing at night
- Seeing halos around lights
- Double vision in the affected eye
- Clouded, blurred, or dim vision
Surgery is the only option to fully restore vision when cataracts make it too difficult to perform daily activities such as reading or driving a vehicle.
LASIK Vision Correction & Cataract Surgery
Laser eye surgery is a vision correction procedure that reshapes the cornea to correct refractive errors such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism, and presbyopia.
Cataract surgery is a procedure that helps you regain clear vision when cataracts prevent you from going about your daily routine.

Cataract Surgery
During cataract surgery, the cloudy lens inside your eye is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular (IOL) lens to restore your clear vision.
After removing the cloudy lens, your surgeon will place the artificial IOL lens and position it securely in the same position as your natural lens.
Cataract surgery usually takes only 15 to 20 minutes. Rock optiX offers pre- and post-operative care. Our team can schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your recovery process.
LASIK Eye Surgery
LASIK eye surgery is the most commonly performed vision-correcting surgery currently available.
LASIK vision correction usually only takes 30 minutes or less. During the procedure, your surgeon uses a laser to create a small flap to access the part of your cornea that will be reshaped. Once the reshaping is completed, your surgeon will carefully place the flap back into place to heal.
It can take 2 to 3 months for your eyes to heal and your vision to stabilize following surgery. We offer pre- and post-operative care, and our team will work with you to schedule follow-up appointments to monitor the healing process.
