Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that affect and damage the optic nerve.
Some forms of glaucoma can develop due to fluid pressure building up in the eye, called intraocular pressure, that can disrupt the image transmission to the brain.
At Rock optiX, we use Goldmann applanation tonometry to measure intraocular pressure and help diagnose glaucoma. For more information, please visit our page on glaucoma management.
Cataracts develop when the normally clear lens of the eye becomes clouded due to proteins in the eye clumping together, preventing the lens from sending clear images to the retina.
Vision changes due to cataracts can be corrected with prescription lenses, but surgery is the only option to fully restore vision.
For more information, visit our cataract surgery consultation page.
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is an eye condition that blurs your central vision. AMD occurs due to damage to your macula, which is responsible for sharp, straight-ahead vision.
AMD is the leading cause of vision loss in older adults.
There are 2 main types of AMD:
Conjunctivitis, or pink eye, is the inflammation or infection of the transparent membrane that lines the eyelid and covers the white of the eyes, caused by bacterial or viral infections or allergic reactions.

An eyeglass prescription is generally good for 1–2 years. Once this date has passed, you can’t use it to buy any new glasses or replacement lenses. […]
