Meet Dr. Straube
Michelle Straube, O.D., earned her Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry after completing her Bachelor of Arts in Human Physiology and Psychology at Boston University, where she also served as an EMT instructor at the Fitness and Recreation Center.
During her clinical training, Dr. Straube completed internships at the Martha Eliot Health Center, the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, the Providence VA Hospital, and the Newport Naval Base. These diverse experiences helped shape her comprehensive approach to patient care.
Since graduating, Dr. Straube has practiced in a wide range of clinical settings, including primary care optometry in Woonsocket and Hopkinton, as well as medical optometry alongside ophthalmologists. She has also contributed to optometric education at the New England College of Optometry, assisting in contact lens labs and participating in vision screenings at Head Start programs and local elementary schools. Additionally, she gained specialized experience in diagnosing and managing diabetic retinopathy and macular edema while working in the telemedicine department at Joslin Diabetes Center.
Dr. Straube is passionate about caring for families and has particular interests in pediatric eye care, as well as the early detection and management of glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. She is excited to be part of the team at Rock optiX.
Outside of work, Dr. Straube enjoys reading, hiking with her dog, spending time by the ocean in Rhode Island, and going on adventures with her two daughters.
